Parkhaven opened during handover celebration ‘In de Luwte I’ in Drachten

This Thursday afternoon, Drachten’s Parkhaven transient marina was symbolically opened with the hoisting of a banner by Alderman Robin Hartogh Heys van de Lier of the municipality of Smallingerland and VanWonen director André ten Vergert. Situated on the Drachtstervaart, the marina provides direct access to the Frisian Lakes. Together with the residents present, the handover of 156 low-energy homes in the In de Luwte I plan was also celebrated.

The sub-plan In de Luwte I is located along the existing Drachtstervaart canal that has an open connection with the Frisian lakes. For boaters whose vessels are too tall for the Piipbrug, the new Parkhaven marina ensures they can still moor right near the heart of Drachten.

Living in a water-rich environment
The In de Luwte I plan is the final phase of the area development on the Drachtstervaart. Most of the homes are located on long peninsulas along the main canal, with some in an inland residential area, uniquely surrounded by water. Almost all the houses are located on the waterfront or look out over the water.

Alderman Robin Hartogh Heys van de Lier is proud: “In de Luwte I has been transformed into a beautiful water-rich neighbourhood with a nice diversity of homes. The transient marina is a valuable addition to the Drachtstervaart, contributing to our ambitions for a pleasant environment to live, work and recreate.”

In de Luwte I
The subdivision plan for In de Luwte I boasts a spacious layout and was designed by IMOSS. VanWonen developed the 156 homes in a wide variety of styles. From detached houses and semi-detached houses to luxury townhouses and terraced houses. Some of the terraced houses fall into the ‘affordable’ bracket, making them highly attractive to first-time homebuyers. Plus, a number of the terraced houses were specifically developed for the rental market. All homes are gasless and zero-energy. In addition, many of the homes have their own mooring dock for a boat.

André ten Vergert, VanWonen: “The Drachtstervaart area development is now complete. We have worked on this project for many years with the municipality and partners. In de Luwte I embodies our vision for living in Friesland: on or near the water, ample space, surrounded by lush greenery. Creating attractive areas where people live together with others in a pleasant way – that is what we strive for. And in Drachtstervaart, we believe this has been very successful.”
