Groundbreaking ceremony 38 homes Zuidoever in Ede
News item, Area and Property Development
On Thursday afternoon, the construction of 35 zero-energy homes for the ZuidOever project in Ede officially kicked off with a festive ceremony. The development, situated by the water, includes 23 owner-occupied homes and 15 social homes. ZuidOever is a project of development combination Kernhem, a partnership of area developer VanWonen and Van Campen Bouwgroep. All owner-occupied homes have been sold. Woonstede will manage the rental of the social homes.
A festive ceremony marked the start of construction of the ZuidOEver project. After the official programme, the future residents had the opportunity to get to know each other and share their first experiences while enjoying a drink. Alderman Bram van der Beek (Wonen) congratulated the residents on their new homes: “You will soon be living in a sustainable home in beautiful green surroundings. It’s great that this project includes both social housing and various types of owner-occupied homes. We're particularly pleased to have helped first-time home buyers find their place here.”
ZuidOever: small scale and green
ZuidOever is a small-scale new development nestled by the water, situated at the corner of Veenwoud and Bemmelsewaard in Ede. Green verges, lots of trees and beech hedges enhance the green character of the neighbourhood. Miranda Venekamp-Brandt, VanWonen Director of Marketing, Sales & Rental Operations: “ZuidOever offers the best of both worlds: green surroundings and close to the water. This place offers residents a fantastic opportunity for outdoor living, with shops and the forest within cycling distance. Another wonderful project as part of our VanWonen mission: creating homes and living environments for the healthiest generations.”
True Kernhem character
ARX Architectuur designed the homes in ZuidOever. As in the rest of Kernhem, most of the houses in this project have a pitched roof with eaves and dark tiles. Richard te Vaarwerk, Technical Director of Van Campen Bouwgroep: “Kernhem’s character shines through in every corner: houses with pitched roofs and eaves. Still, each street has its own identity due to the use of variations in the roofs and masonry details.” The handover of the homes will start in the fourth quarter of 2025 and continue until the first quarter of 2026.
