On Thursday afternoon, alderman Engbert Stroobosscher ceremoniously gave the go-ahead for the construction of the first 14 homes in the Greenz project in Veenendaal. Greenz is being developed by Ontwikkelcombinatie Groenpoort, a partnership between VanWonen and Van Campen Bouwgroep. All homes have been sold. The first homes will be handed over in the first quarter of 2026.

The Greenz project officially kicked off with the building of a small trial brick wall. After the official programme, the future residents had the opportunity to get to know each other while enjoying a drink.

Alderman Engbert Stroobosscher (Employment, Housing and Spatial Development) congratulated the residents on their new homes: “These homes will be situated in the new De Tuinen neighbourhood. Another great addition to Groenpoort in Veenendaal-Oost. You will be living in a sustainable home in beautiful green surroundings. And Veenendaal’s amenities will be right at your fingertips. I wish you every happiness in your new home.”

Green and sustainable
The first phase of Greenz consists of 10 semi-detached houses and 4 detached houses. Designed by GAJ Architects, the homes align with the visual quality standards set for this area of Groenpoort.

Mireille Jeurnink, Director of Property Development at VanWonen: “With Greenz, we have developed a small-scale, high-quality project featuring spacious single-family homes. The homes will be connected to DEVO’s innovative district heating network, allowing them to be both heated and cooled. This, combined with the location directly on the Groene Grens nature reserve, ensures the residents will enjoy comfort in a lovely rural setting.”

Richard te Vaarwerk, Technical Director of Van Campen Bouwgroep, adds: “Here, our skilled people are creating spacious, sustainable homes with exquisite brickwork details.”

Planning and phase 2
The first homes of phase 1 are expected to be handed over in the first quarter of 2026. Further information about the range of house types in Greenz’s next development phase will become available in the fourth quarter of this year. The Groenwal subarea will feature terraced houses, semi-detached houses and detached houses. More information: www.woneningreenz.nl.
