The municipality of Renkum and area developer VanWonen have taken a significant step in the redevelopment of the site at Stationsweg 49 in Oosterbeek. By signing a partnership agreement (SOK), they have paved the way for the construction of 35 new houses in this location.

School makes way for housing
This location currently houses a school building used by De Onderwijsspecialisten. Next year, the school will move to a new location, creating space for housing. VanWonen will develop 14 single-family houses and 21 apartments here. Of these 35 homes, 21 will be in the affordable segment: 6 owner-occupied homes in the affordable housing programme and 15 mid-priced owner-occupied homes.

The housing project is part of the regional Housing Deal 2.0 and helps expand the housing stock in the region. The homes will be realized across various segments, and prior agreements concerning social housing have been factored in.

‘Great need for housing in Oosterbeek’
Alderperson Daniëlle van Bentem: “I am very pleased that we are adding 35 new homes to this site, including many affordable homes for buyers. There is a real demand for this in Oosterbeek, and this will help to fill that gap. Developer VanWonen can now start the planning process; they will make sure that the local residents, all relevant parties, and home seekers have their voices heard throughout this process.”

Focus on biodiversity and sustainability
Lorenz Mooij, project developer at VanWonen, adds: “We will develop a plan that focuses on biodiversity and sustainably designed homes in a landscaped setting. With bioswales for collecting rainwater in the green spaces. This is entirely in keeping with the green landscape that characterises the area. And with the train station just a short walk away; the future residents will enjoy a comfortable and sustainable lifestyle.”

VanWonen expects to present the first drafts of the housing development plan this fall. For more information, visit www.participatiestationsweg49.nl.
