Municipality of Zwolle and VanWonen sign agreement for 120 homes on Nieuwe Veerallee

On Thursday afternoon, the Municipality of Zwolle and area developer VanWonen signed a partnership agreement for the Bolster project on Nieuwe Veerallee. The plan includes approximately 110 apartments and 11 ground-oriented houses. Zecc architects has been commissioned to design the new-build project. Construction is expected to start in the second half of next year.
Bolster is located at the junction of the Spoorzone and Nieuwe Veemarkt development areas. The development site currently houses a petrol station, a thrift shop and a branch of Vakmensen (an employment social enterprise). The new Bolster development complements the nearby architecture and the apartment complex Veeralleeflat. The project is part of Zwolle’s development programme ‘Ons Stadshart van Morgen’ (‘Our City Heart of Tomorrow’).

Inclusive housing programme with an urban character
The vision for the plan is an ensemble of buildings on a triangular plot with an urban character. With houses and apartments in various sizes. The Bolster homes will be positioned around a spacious, landscaped courtyard, characterized by varied planting and a strong commitment to biodiversity. Bolster’s housing programme will be very diverse, with rental and owner-occupied homes in a mix of 30% social housing, 40% mid-range housing and 30% private sector housing. Additionally, VanWonen is exploring the potential for communal spaces designed to facilitate both spontaneous and organized gatherings.
