Will electricity become a scarce commodity for the next generation because of the need to electrify everything? Should millennials fear power outages, or skyrocketing costs? The TV programme ‘Stand van Nederland: Generatie Next’ came to Zwolle to ask VanWonen about the impact of power shortages on housing development. And about the solutions we have in mind.
Marcel de Ruiter, Sustainability Manager at VanWonen: “A major bottleneck of our current electricity grid is not the supply of energy, but exporting it back into the grid. In the future, solar panels may therefore be switched off at peak times. And that, of course, would be extremely disappointing. The electricity grid should never be a limiting factor in achieving our sustainable ambitions. That’s why we, as the Netherlands, must set aside money for this.”
