Festive start of construction of Zaligerhof in Nijmegen
News item, Area and Property Development
Through the festive lighting of fireworks, alderman Noël Vergunst gave the go-ahead for the construction of Zaligerhof, a new-build project by area developer VanWonen in partnership with Reinbouw. This is the first project of the area development ‘Hof van Holland’ in the Waalsprong that has been sold. Zaligerhof offers a variety of housing with 65 owner-occupied homes, 23 rental homes and a commercial space. An urban neighbourhood surrounded by greenery and nature.
Construction of Zaligerhof starts with a ‘bang’
The future residents of Zaligerhof were invited to the festive start of construction, hosted by entertainer ‘Bert the Construction Worker’. After a welcome in the tent and a few short speeches, everyone was invited to go outside for a festive ceremony at the building site. The ceremony was performed by alderman Noël Vergunst, together with Mireille Jeurnink of VanWonen and Antoinette Wilmot of Reinbouw. The alderman congratulated the future residents with the purchase of their house in today’s challenging housing market: ‘Zaligerhof helps meet the demand for housing with both owner-occupied and rental homes. Living in Hof van Holland is the best of both worlds: in a friendly neighbourhood with shops and other amenities around the corner and the beautiful countryside nearby.’
After the ceremony, the residents could all visit their own lots/homes. Each lot had a wooden sign with the construction number engraved on it. The house buyers could take these home with them. There were also drinks and a BBQ to get to know each other and share experiences.
Zaligerhof: new neighbourhood in Hof van Holland
The Zaligerhof new-build project will be a new neighbourhood in Hof van Holland in the Waalsprong district. The location is unique because of the mix of greenery, nature and river beaches, with the historic city centre of Nijmegen only a few minutes away by bicycle. The houses are 3- and 4-storey town houses, each with its own unique façade style. And with much variation in the bay windows, French balconies, verandas and brickwork. The residents of Zaligerhof will have the new shopping centre Hart van de Waalsprong within easy reach, as well as the historic Fort Beneden Lent.
“Zaligerhof stands for a green and urban space. This is reflected in the design. Every home has its own character, which is enhanced by individual choices. The courtyard will be a shared meeting place, which the residents will design themselves,” says Mireille Jeurnink, VanWonen Director of Property Development.
Antoinette Wilmot, Commercial Director of Reinbouw, adds: “The architecture of the plan is characterised by a great variety of brickwork styles. That adds a lot of character and requires a lot of craftsmanship. We are keen to get to work on this.”
