On Friday afternoon, alderman Gerrit Knol symbolically gave the go-ahead for the construction of the project De Nieuwe Stijl van Hasselt. The first phase consists of 16 homes: 12 terraced houses and 4 duplexes. With this project, the characteristic town of Hasselt is drawing a lot of attention from people outside the municipality. The future residents toasted to a healthy and bright future.

Time capsule
With the burial of a time capsule, alderman Gerrit Knol of the municipality of Zwartwaterland gave the symbolic go-ahead for the construction. The time capsule contains the newspaper of that day and an official certificate signed by the parties involved. Alderman Gerard Knol: “I am proud that Hasselt, our beautiful and characteristic town, appeals to so many people. This project has made it possible that residents from outside our municipality have also found a beautiful new build here, in green surroundings.”

Healthy and spacious living in the countryside
De Nieuwe Stijl van Hasselt is a small-scale project, designed for living in a green environment. The homes are sustainable and gas-free, and biodiversity is an important part of the project. One of the ways the local wildlife is helped, is by placing nest boxes. Mireille Jeurnink, VanWonen’s Director of Property Development: “We are very proud of this beautiful project. The new residents will be able to enjoy healthy and spacious ‘country living’ in a wonderful green environment.”

Planning
The construction work of De Nieuwe Stijl van Hasselt began in February. Because of the Coronavirus measures, the festive moment was postponed to April. At this moment, all homes have been sold. It is expected that the homes will be completed in the last quarter of this year.
