Festive start of construction 64 homes in Kwartiermaker Arnhem

News item, Area and Property Development

With the laying of the first foundation beam, area developer VanWonen, together with construction company Veluwezoom Verkerk, kicked off the construction of 64 single-family homes in new-build project Kwartiermaker in Schuytgraaf, Arnhem.

All buyers of the new Kwartiermaker homes were present at the festive start of construction. After the first foundation beam had been laid, the residents went to the lot of their future home. For each new resident, there was a wooden sign with their construction number engraved on it. Afterwards, there was a barbecue that gave the residents the opportunity to get to know each other and share their experiences.

Kwartiermaker: nature inclusive and sustainable
Kwartiermaker consists of 43 owner-occupied homes and 21 rental homes with a robust, urban look. There is a variety of housing types: end houses, mid-terrace houses, semi-detached houses, and terraced houses of three-in-a-row, varying in size from approximately 120 m2 to 187 m2. All homes have been developed to be energy neutral. In addition, the entire plan is nature inclusive and sustainable.

VanWonen Project Developer Rob Dijkman: ‘With Kwartiermaker, we are adding a beautiful, green and sustainable neighbourhood to the Arnhem district of Schuyts Kwartier. All of the flat roofs of extensions, sheds and garages will be planted with sedum plants. We will also install various types of nesting boxes in the façades, and apply greenery to the façades of a number of end-of-terrace houses.’ Ron Brons, Director of Veluwezoom Verkerk adds: ‘With Kwartiermaker, in close collaboration with VanWonen, we are realising a future-proof neighbourhood where it will be very pleasant to live.’
