VanWonen celebrates opening of Groningen office

News item, Area and Property Development

VanWonen has officially opened its Groningen office on Boterdiep with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The addition of this new location springs from the area developer’s vision of being locally involved, for all its projects in the Northern Netherlands. The branch opened its doors in early 2020, just before the first COVID-19 measures took effect.

In the presence of around 60 colleagues, Alfred Kazemier, Director of Urban Development for the municipality of Groningen and Alfred Bolks, CEO of VanWonen, together cut the purple ribbon. With this, the office on Boterdiep was symbolically opened. An office in the middle of Ebbingekwartier, the neighbourhood that was developed by VanWonen itself.

As an area developer, VanWonen is well-known in Groningen. In recent years, the company developed and completed Ebbingekwartier and Oosterparkkwartier. Oosterhamrikkade and De Meeuwen are currently being developed. VanWonen is also one of the partners in the area development of the new district of Stadshavens. And together with the Hanze University of Applied Sciences, UMCG, and the municipality of Groningen, it forms the ‘Healthy City’ consortium. This consortium took the initiative to appoint a professor in Healthy Cities.

Alfred Bolks: “As a trusted partner in the city of Groningen, we offer our colleagues and our customers a place to work and meet in Ebbingekwartier. We believe in the strength of a locally rooted approach, with a team that has its local network here.”
