Bolster: 140 homes on Nieuwe Veerallee in Zwolle
News item, Area and Property Development
With the Bolster project, area developer VanWonen plans to develop around 140 apartments in the Veerallee neighbourhood, which is near the city centre of Zwolle. Besides housing, the project will provide approximately 350 m2 of space for commercial and/or social uses. The site is located between the Kamperlijn, Kamperweg and Nieuwe Veerallee. A garage, petrol station and thrift shop are currently located here. People living in the immediate vicinity were informed by VanWonen on Wednesday evening.
The Bolster location is right at the junction of the Spoorzone, Nieuwe Veemarkt development areas. It is part of the development programme ‘Our City Heart of Tomorrow’. The principles for the development were recently adopted by the bench of Mayor and Aldermen. This means that VanWonen can now start working on a spatial development plan in consultation with the municipality. In the meantime, Zecc architects are working on design studies for the residential building.
Urban living in Bolster
The basic principle for Bolster is a triangular building with an urban look. It is divided into a high and a low part, with apartments of various sizes. On the ground floor, there is space for commercial and/or social uses. The Bolster homes will be built around a large green courtyard. There will be a wide variety of green plants in the garden, with much attention for biodiversity. The new build project will offer a mix of rental and owner-occupied apartments in various price categories. Within walking distance of the city centre and the railway station and close to the arterial roads that connect to the A50 and A28 motorways.
André ten Vergert, Director of VanWonen: ”This location will be transformed into a beautiful new entrance for the city of Zwolle, a place where the developments of Spoorzone and Nieuwe Veemarkt come together. In Bolster, you can live in an urban setting, close to Zwolle's historic city centre. Here, residents can enjoy a dynamic environment. But with the tranquillity of a green oasis at their fingertips.”
