Start of construction celebration 31 homes ‘In de Luwte’ in Drachten

On Thursday afternoon, alderman Robin Hartogh Heys van De Lier gave the kick-off signal for the construction of phase 3A/3B of the In de Luwte I project on Drachtstervaart. The project involves 10 rental and 21 owner-occupied homes: terraced houses, semi-detached and detached houses. The future residents of the owner-occupied houses toasted to a bright future on Drachtstervaart.

Time capsule with future wishes
With the burial of a time capsule, the alderman gave the symbolic go-ahead for the construction. The time capsule contains an official certificate signed by the parties involved, and the newspaper of that day.

Alderman Robin Hartogh Heys: “The municipality of Smallingerland is very pleased that with this project, many people in Drachten have found a new home. These new builds, with their great diversity, are beautifully situated in relation to the town centre and give direct access to the Frisian lakes.”

Healthy and sustainable living on the waterfront
The experience of the seasons and life in and around the water will be unique features of In de Luwte I. Almost all the houses are located on the waterfront or look out over the water. On all three islands in the project, playgrounds will be created. In their design, the area’s history is reflected.

Miranda Venekamp-Brandt, VanWonen Director of Marketing, Sales & Rental Operations is proud: “In De Luwte will be a pleasant, healthy and sustainable living environment. As part of this, we want to ensure that all children can play and grow up in a healthy environment that is smoke-free. That’s why we will mark the playgrounds in this project as smoke-free zones. As a partner of Smoke-Free Generation, this is how we work on the VanWonen mission: creating homes and living environments for the healthiest generations.”

In de Luwte planning
In de Luwte I offers a wide variety of homes. The homes from the first phase have been handed over, and the homes of phase 2A are expected to be handed over in the spring of 2023. The phase 2B and 3A/B homes will follow after.

Gerard van der Duim, managing director of Lont: “We are proud to work on this beautiful project with a mix of rental and owner-occupied homes. We are building a total of 31 sustainable and gas-free homes in a beautiful location in Drachten. Last week, we started building the concrete shells. Because of this construction method, the contours of the houses that will appear here are visible in no time. The shells of almost all 31 houses will be up before the end of the year, in line with the planning. If everything goes according to plan, we expect to hand over the first homes before the summer holiday of 2023.”
