Development combination Kernhem CV, a collaboration between area developer VanWonen and Van Campen Bouwgroep, has developed 40 social housing apartments in Ede and has sold them to housing association Woonstede. The gas-free apartments will be built in the Kernhem district and will be connected to the sustainable district heating network. Construction is expected to start at the end of the second quarter of 2023.

The four-storey building was designed by Architektengroep Gelderland and will feature 40 apartments with an average living area of 57 m2. All apartments have soundproofed balconies or gardens. And will be connected to the sustainable district heating network. Various nesting facilities will be installed in the façade of the building; nature inclusivity is thus part of the design.

Mireille Jeurnink, VanWonen’s Director of Property Development: “As a development combination, we are proud to have been commissioned by housing association Woonstede to realise these 40 sustainable and affordable homes in the attractive and green new housing development of Kernhem in Ede. The future residents will be able to live here comfortably and peacefully, close to all the important amenities in Ede.”

The apartments will be built in the new housing development of Kernhem, a neighbourhood designed with plenty of space for nature in mind, adjacent to the ecozone on the north-western edge of Ede. About a quarter of the total area consists of natural landscape elements. A combination of nature and recreational functions is planned for the entire neighbourhood, enabling residents to fully delight in the natural world.

Marco de Wilde, managing director of Woonstede: “The waiting lists for social homes have been growing for years. It is becoming increasingly difficult for people looking for housing to find a suitable rental home. With these apartments, we are adding affordable, high-quality and sustainable homes in a pleasant neighbourhood with a focus on nature and liveability.”
