Start of construction ceremony for 56 zero-energy homes in Schuytgraaf

On Tuesday afternoon, the ceremonious go-ahead was given for the construction of 56 spacious zero-energy homes in the Ent project in the green and most northern part of the Schuytgraaf district in Arnhem. Area developer VanWonen has already sold many of the homes. Reinbouw will build the homes that have been designed by MIX architecture.

The start of construction was celebrated by tying a rebar in the foundation, in the presence of the future residents.
Paul Smeulders, alderman for housing: “As the municipality of Arnhem, we are delighted that new, completely energy-neutral homes are being added to the city. These homes blend well into the green surroundings and contribute to the city’s biodiversity and climate resilience.”

Sustainable living in green surroundings
Ent is located in the green and northernmost part of the Arnhem district of Schuytgraaf, bordering the river landscape. The project features a wide variety of housing: forest dwellings, semi-bungalows, semi-detached houses, and some detached houses. All 56 properties are fully zero-energy thanks to the use of good insulation, solar panels, top cooling, heat recovery systems, and green roofs. This significantly reduces both energy consumption and energy costs.

Mireille Jeurnink, Director of Property Development at VanWonen: “In Ent, you live close to green spaces and water, with the poplar forest, eco zone and floodplains nearby. We will create facilities for insects, birds and bats, and bioswales take care of the absorption of rainwater. Also, the residents will get - depending on the type of house - a shrub, climbing plant or tree of their choice in their own garden. In other words: a place that is both environmentally friendly and pleasant to live in, with plenty of green space.”

Antoinette Wilmot, Commercial Director of Reinbouw: “We are proud that we can start using our craftsmanship to realise these beautiful homes. Homes with a stylish design, featuring bold shapes, honest materials, and powerful details, such as wooden pergolas and striking dormers, that offer stunning views of the landscape. We are building these homes with high-quality and, as far as possible, low-maintenance materials.”

A few homes are still available
