Start of construction ceremony for Overbos project in Arnhem

On Friday afternoon, the Arnhem alderman Maurits van de Geijn, together with area developer VanWonen and contractor Veluwezoom Verkerk Bouw, ceremoniously kicked off the construction of the Overbos project in the Schuytgraaf district of Arnhem. The plan consists of 26 owner-occupied homes and 27 rental homes and was designed by opZoom architects. All owner-occupied homes have been sold. The handover of the homes is planned for the second quarter of 2025.

Alderman Van de Geijn congratulated the residents: “Overbos is a wonderful addition to Schuytgraaf. Thanks to the diversity of homes and its green character, the project offers something for everyone. It’s great that many Arnhemmers have found their new homes here. I wish all future residents much happiness in their new homes!”

Green neighbourhood
Overbos is situated in the north of the Schuytgraaf district, directly adjacent to the park. A green wedge between the terraced houses brings the park into the neighbourhood. Each house on the green wedge has a front garden with a lush hedge or has a pergola or veranda. There are deep gardens behind all the houses, and the semi-detached and end-of-terrace houses have extra-wide gardens and a garage.

Mireille Jeurnink, Director of Property Development at VanWonen: “Overbos will be a lovely green place to live, with houses that are zero-energy. With good insulation, solar panels and sedum on the roofs of the sheds. The residents will also receive the material passport of their homes. The materials and products used can be found in it. As such, it provides insight into the circular and material value of the house. This is how we contribute to future-proof homes that last for generations.”

Diverse and inclusive housing
Overbos offers diverse housing with 26 owner-occupied homes and 27 private rental sector homes. There are five different housing types, ranging from mid-terrace to end-of-terrace to spacious semi-detached houses. This variety contributes to an inclusive neighbourhood with pleasant dynamics.

Ron Brons, Director of Veluwezoom Verkerk, adds: “We are proud to realize this beautiful project together with VanWonen. Overbos is a fine example of how modern building methods and sustainability can go hand in hand. The green wedge and spacious gardens offer a perfect balance between urban living and nature.”
