On Thursday afternoon, alderman Jan van der Poel of the municipality of Zwartewaterland ceremoniously kicked off the start of construction of the Langs de Weiden project in Hasselt. The plan consists of 16 owner-occupied houses, was designed by Weusten Liedenbaum architects and is built by PHB Deventer. All homes have been sold. The handover of the homes is planned for the spring of 2025.

With the burial of a time capsule on Thursday afternoon, alderman Jan van der Poel of the municipality of Zwartewaterland symbolically kicked off the start of construction. The time capsule contains the newspaper of that day and an official certificate signed by the parties involved. The alderman congratulated the new residents: “Another sixteen new homes in beautiful Hasselt. Wonderfully located on the edge of the meadows. As a municipality, we are happy that these residents have found their new home here.”

Langs de Weiden
The new housing project ‘Langs de Weiden’ (which translates as ‘along the meadows’) is part of the new district ‘Hasselt Om de Weede’. Here, and in various phases, VanWonen is developing a total of 42 homes in the new Over de Weede subarea.

Mireille Jeurnink, Director of Property Development at VanWonen: “There is a lot of interest in housing in Hasselt. This is a beautiful, rural, green area to live, yet all the necessary amenities are within a short distance. With Langs de Weiden, we offer a varied range of housing, from semi-detached houses to homes that are suitable for ‘ageing in place’. All gasless and zero-energy. This is how we contribute to future-proof homes that last for generations.”

“It’s great that we have started the construction of Langs de Weiden. These 16 homes are a high-quality and sustainable addition to Hasselt. The future residents will love living here”, adds Gerwin van de Zande, director of PHB.

Hasselt
Living in Hasselt means living in a characteristic Hanseatic town on the banks of the Zwarte Water river, right on the edge of the beautiful recreational area of the ‘Kop van Overijssel’, abundant in nature and wildlife, with many opportunities for boating. The new ‘Langs de Weiden’ project has a rural and village-like character and borders the green countryside. In short: a wonderful rural setting, yet within a stone’s throw from the town centre of Hasselt and close to large cities such as Zwolle, Kampen and Meppel.
