On Wednesday afternoon, at real estate fair Provada, initiator VanWonen and the municipality of Zwolle signed a partnership agreement to flesh out the spatial development plan for project Bolster on Nieuwe Veerallee 10-12-14. The Bolster plan includes approximately 140 apartments and about 350 square meters for commercial or social uses.
The Bolster location is right at the junction of the Spoorzone, New Veemarkt development areas. It is part of the development programme ‘Our City Heart of Tomorrow’. VanWonen will now start working on a spatial development plan, in consultation with the municipality. In the meantime, Zecc architects will be working on design studies for the residential building.
Dorrit de Jong, alderman for Housing: Together with developers and housing associations, we are working hard on constructing new housing in the city. With this new development, we are adding 140 additional homes, in a fantastic location, close to both the inner city and the Spoorzone. I am thrilled that we have been able to take this step together.”
Inclusive housing programme with an urban character
The basic principle for Bolster is a triangular building with an urban look. It is divided into a high and a low part, with apartments of various sizes. On the ground floor, there is space for commercial and/or social uses. The Bolster homes will be built around a large green courtyard. There will be a wide variety of green plants in the garden, with much attention for biodiversity. Bolster’s housing programme will be very diverse. It will consist of rental and owner-occupied houses in various price categories.
Mireille Jeurnink, VanWonen Director of Property Development: “With Bolster, we are developing a beautiful new entrance for the city of Zwolle. The development offers urban living with a wealth of amenities just around the corner. The residents will be able to enjoy a dynamic environment. But with the tranquillity of a green oasis at their fingertips. Within walking distance of the railway station and close to the arterial roads that connect to the A50 and A28 motorways.”
