Alderman De Pater kicks off construction of 23 homes in Ede

News item, Area and Property Development

On Friday afternoon, Peter de Pater, alderman for spatial planning in Ede, ceremoniously gave the go-ahead for the construction of 17 homes in the ‘Waard en Water’ project and six semi-detached houses in the Kernhemmerpark project. Both projects are in the new Kernhem West district. All 23 homes will be zero-energy and equipped with district heating. Waard en Water and Kernhemmerpark are projects of development combination Kernhem CV, a partnership of area developer VanWonen and Van Campen Bouwgroep. All the homes in both projects have been sold.

A surprising and entertaining act marked the start of construction. Alderman Peter de Pater congratulated the future residents on their new homes: “On behalf of the municipality of Ede, I wish you much happiness in your new home. Congratulations on your beautiful and sustainable new build home. It won’t be long before you can fully enjoy the lush green environment that Ede is known for.”

Waard en Water: mix of peacefulness and comfort
Waard en Water is a small-scale project consisting of 5 mid-terrace houses, 4 end-of-terrace houses and 8 semi-detached houses on very spacious lots and in various styles. The new neighbourhood in Kernhem West offers a unique mix of peacefulness and modern comfort. The new development is located near the Doesburgerdijk. Along this dike there is an ecozone with all kinds of animals and plants. This wildlife area is practically in the new residents’ backyards. Green verges, lots of trees and beech hedges enhance the green character of the neighbourhood. Miranda Venekamp-Brandt, VanWonen Director of Marketing, Sales & Rental Operations: “Waard en Water and Kernhemmerpark are characterized by their spacious green areas and pleasant streetscape. Residents can enjoy the best of both worlds, combining urban living with a relaxed outdoor lifestyle. With both the train station, shops and the woods within cycling distance. Another wonderful project as part of our VanWonen mission: creating homes and living environments for the healthiest generations.”

True Kernhem character
As in the rest of Kernhem, most of the houses in the Kernhemmerpark project have a pitched roof with eaves. The homes were designed by Architectengroep Gelderland. Richard te Vaarwerk, Technical Director of Van Campen Bouwgroep: “Kernhem’s character shines through in every corner: houses with pitched roofs and eaves. Still, each street has its own identity due to the use of variations in the roofs, accentuated bay windows and masonry details.” The handover of the homes is scheduled for mid-2025.
