Start of construction ceremony for 66 homes in project Reede, Zwolle

News item, Area and Property Development

On Tuesday afternoon, 14 January, alderman Gerdien Rots (area development Stadshagen) ceremoniously gave the go-ahead for the construction of 66 homes in the Reede neighbourhood in Breezicht. Area developer VanWonen has sold all 115 homes of the second phase of the new housing development Reede in Stadshagen. TVA Architects designed the homes, which will be built by Schutte Bouw. The handover of the homes is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.

Alderman Gerdien Rots gave the official go-ahead for the construction, together with Miranda Venekamp-Brandt (VanWonen) and Paul Dijkman (Schutte Bouw & Ontwikkeling). Alderman Gerdien Rots: “A wonderful start to the year for the future residents of neighbourhood Reede. The construction of 66 zero-energy homes in the green and water-rich Breezicht neighbourhoud has begun. As the municipality of Zwolle, we are working hand-in-hand with our partners to build more homes in Zwolle and create sustainable, enjoyable places to live.”

Reede: living in a green and water-rich environment
Breezicht, the new development near the Milligerplas, is rapidly taking shape. About 1140 houses will be developed in Breezicht, divided over six smaller neighbourhoods. One of these neighbourhoods – in the north of Breezicht – is Reede. In this neighbourhood, VanWonen is developing the new build project Reede. It offers a great mix of terraced houses, semi-detached houses, and detached houses. Miranda Venekamp-Brandt, VanWonen Director of Marketing, Sales & Rental Operations, is proud: “Reede’s design is inspired by the garden village concept, with plenty of space to meet others and socialise. VanWonen is adding a total of 115 zero-energy homes. Beautifully located beside the Milligerplas lake, this will be a lovely, comfortable and healthy place to live.”

Climate-proof neighbourhood
Breezicht will be an energy-efficient and climate-proof neighbourhood. Electricity for the public space will be generated by solar installations. And when it rains, the water will be guided to a central pond via watercourses, bioswales and green zones. This ‘water buffer’ serves as a reserve for periods of drought. Paul Dijkman, Director of Schutte Bouw & Ontwikkeling: “We’re proud to be part of this project, to bring this wonderful plan to life with our skilled team. We are creating a pleasant and green neighbourhood, with contemporary architecture and sustainable materials. And care for nature: we will incorporate nesting boxes for bats and swallows in the houses.”

All homes have been sold
VanWonen has now sold all 115 homes in this new housing development. The 49 homes in phase 1 have already been handed over. The 66 homes in phase 2 are expected to be handed over in the first quarter of 2026.
