An attentive city is a healthy city

With the future in mind

Creating homes and living environments where everyone feels at home. That is our mission. How do we do this? Our starting point in every area development are the wishes, dreams and needs of our customers: future residents as well as stakeholders. The key word is total attention. For everyone and in every phase of the process. If you pay attention to the people around you, you make the world a little more beautiful. Attention makes us feel healthy and happy. Makes that we want to share and pull together. Makes that we enjoy living in a place and want to stay there.

With this in mind, we, together with the Hanzehogeschool, the municipality of Groningen and the University Medical Center, have taken the initiative to research the theme of the ‘Healthy City’. A lecturer has now been appointed for this subject. We want to know even better what a home or living environment needs, to create a real sense of home. An environment that promotes the health and well-being of people and helps them to make healthy choices. Through participatory projects with residents and the users of specific areas, we gather ideas and develop plans and initiatives. The lectureship also offers a great opportunity for PhD students and other students to research themes such as circularity, mobility and inclusiveness, in addition to health. Designers and artists are also invited to participate and contribute innovative ideas. From our expertise as a property developer, we contribute research questions and make project locations available as pilot areas. We will apply the results to other projects, in Groningen and elsewhere. In this way, we can learn from each other and build healthy cities together.
