In the neighbourhood... Homestead
Visiting
At VanWonen, we create housing and living environments for the healthiest generations: in a mix of sustainable owner-occupied and rental homes. Sometimes our diverse offering of houses is just what’s needed for a smooth transition to a new home. As in the case of Mr and Mrs Van Elst who bought a new build home in the Homestead project in Nijmegen and will now move into a VanWonen rental home until the handover of their ‘forever home’.
“It’s beautiful how things sometimes come together,” says Sales Manager Melanie Willemse with a smile. “The greenest spot of Nijmegen-Noord is the location of the unconventional Homestead project. The 77 houses, which will be surrounded by a terp (an artificial mound), went on sale in June of last year. When we met Mr and Mrs van Elst, they told us that they lived in Venray, too far from their grandchildren, and wanted to move. So they were looking for a property in Nijmegen, and in the end they were among the first buyers of a Homestead home.”
Immediately taken with the location and the project
“Our son told us about the Homestead project, after which our decision was quickly made,” Mr and Mrs van Elst say enthusiastically. “We are true nature lovers and arts & culture enthusiasts, so we were immediately taken with both the location and the project. A very attractive plan, on the edge of a beautiful wildlife area. We put our house in Venray up for sale so that we could closely follow the progress of the construction and get familiar with the area. Everything then moved rapidly for us: our current home was sold very quickly and so, for the interim period, we urgently needed to find a rental home.”
“We informed them of the possibility of registering for a VanWonen rental home. Together, we looked at finding a good solution,” says Sales Manager Melanie Willemse.
Finding solutions on the way to a new home
Dorien Bakker, Leasing Coordinator: “We develop rental housing for a growing group of people in the middle segment for whom there is currently not enough supply. The assumption is that people will live in a rental home for at least one year. The supply varies, which is why we ask everyone looking for a rental property to register. People who have registered will be notified as soon as there are new homes available, to give them the opportunity to respond right away. And that’s how it went in this case. On 1 November, they received the key and moved into their rental home. A good example of the VanWonen way of working: we pay attention to the customer and help them find solutions on the way to their new home.”
