Wonen in Ent (Arnhem)
Project update
VanWonen is a familiar face in Schuytgraaf in Arnhem, we have been developing various projects here for years. Work is currently underway on Wonen in Ent, a plan on the edge of Schuytgraaf that embraces the area through its unique wooded appearance. A special plan that excels in terms of sustainability and customer involvement. Our project team with Maarten de Jong (Customer Manager), Rob Dijkman (Project Developer) and Martijn van Essen (Sales Manager) are happy to take you along in this development process, each based on their own expertise and knowledge of the local market.
“In the past five years, we have developed more than 350 homes in Schuytgraaf, including the 56 homes in Wonen in Ent. Each location here is unique, it stands out when you look at the landscape and the quality of the plan. The public space and the architecture of the plan merge, so you actually experience the feeling of living in a wooded area,” Rob starts. “For us, customers and the journey they make to a new home are central. We ask customers for their input and include this in our development process. In the crowdsource phase, for example, it soon became apparent that there was a demand for life-resistant homes. Based on this outcome, we entered into discussions with the municipality to change the allotment: the housing supply has ultimately become more varied as a result.”
A green and sustainable living environment
Maarten continues: “We are close to the customer, which means we have a lot of customer contact and insight into their wishes. A green, sustainable and peaceful living environment was a common wish among interested parties. And this is really reflected: in the architecture, the choice for high-quality sustainable materials and energy solutions and with the nature that is all around you. In addition, customers indicated their housing wishes, such as a kitchen at the rear, an extra work / play room on the ground floor: we have incorporated this into the elaboration of the plan. Everything is right in this new neighborhood, on the green edge of Schuytgraaf. The quality and completeness of this plan is well regarded and I really notice this in the high number of interested parties. This makes the landscape unique, where you experience living in the forest.”
Martijn points out that the landscape in which you will live is truly distinctive. “We wanted to embrace the landscape in our plan. Partly for this reason, we have made a proposal to the municipality to involve a landscape architect in the design plan for the public space. In collaboration with the municipality and the landscape architect, this has resulted in a coherent and green design plan. In addition to a green environment, we have also focused on sustainable living. You should think of completely energy and CO2-neutral homes through good insulation, solar panels, balanced ventilation, top cooling, heat recovery units and green roofs.”
The first residents move in
Construction of these homes began in 2023. All homes have been sold, and the (future) residents are particularly impressed with the quality of the design and the attention to architectural detail. The first 10 homes were handed over before the 2024 summer holidays. The remaining homes will be handed over gradually this year.
Wonen in Ent is a joint project with the municipality of Arnhem, MIX architectuur, Reinbouw and MAAKspace.
