Kick-off construction of city villas and rental apartments De Crescent West, Apeldoorn

News item, Inner-city projects

On Thursday the 17th of June, the construction of De Crescent West in Apeldoorn kicked off festively. Gerwin van de Zande, director of PHB Deventer and VanWonen director Mireille Jeurnink gave the official signal for the construction to begin. All future residents of De Crescent West had put their home wishes for the future on paper. These wishes were put in a time capsule, which was ‘buried’ during this moment. The future residents witnessed this special moment and afterwards they toasted to a successful construction project. On behalf of the municipality of Apeldoorn, alderman Nathan Stukker addressed the future residents via a video message and wished them much happiness in their new homes.

An amazing achievement
Gerwin van de Zande, director of PHB Deventer explains enthusiastically: “The development of the plan was a wonderful and challenging process; work that suits us at PHB down to the ground. With the realisation of De Crescent West, this part of Apeldoorn will be greatly improved, with stunning looking houses and apartments.”

Mireille Jeurnink, director of VanWonen, is also positive: “The development of De Crescent West was an intensive process which has resulted in an amazing final result. Because of the architectural style chosen, the fourteen city villas and thirty apartments will be a bold addition to the city centre, fitted with all modern conveniences for the residents.”

Here, the vibrant city centre of Apeldoorn and the green forests of the Veluwe meet
The fourteen villas and thirty private sector apartments are located adjacent to the central train station of Apeldoorn. Together, they form the beautiful final piece of the transformation of the area around the train station, which has taken many years, but will get to see its completion with this project. From here, the residents can walk to the lively city centre in just a few minutes, but it’s also not far to the peaceful forest fringe of the Veluwe. This is where nature and culture come together. The houses stand out with their robust brickwork, in combination with the wood and large windows. Almost all townhouses have their own garden and/or roof terrace and a private parking space in the enclosed courtyard. The residents of the apartments will also have access to this enclosed courtyard with a private parking space there, or in the parking garage under the building. In addition, each apartment has a beautiful roof terrace facing the inner courtyard or a lovely balcony overlooking the lively square of the railway station. The architecture of the building, with its white concrete ‘lattice’, blends in beautifully with the other two buildings on the semi-circular square, creating a single architectural whole. The combination of owner-occupied and rental homes will result in a lively mix of people in the heart of Apeldoorn’s bustling city centre.

All fourteen of the villas have been sold. The thirty private sector apartments will be available for rent in the fall of 2021. For more information, please visit:
