Start of construction in Ede: 55 homes in Kernhemmerhout project
News item, Area and Property Development
On Friday afternoon 8 May, alderman Peter de Pater ceremoniously gave the go-ahead for the construction of 55 homes in the Kernhemmerhout project in Ede. The project consists of 44 owner-occupied homes and 11 social homes in the new district Kernhem West. All homes will be zero-energy and equipped with district heating. Kernhemmerhout is a project of development combination Kernhem CV, a partnership of area developer VanWonen and Van Campen Bouwgroep. Housing association Woonstede will add the rental homes to its portfolio. All owner-occupied homes have been sold.
An unexpected, entertaining act marked the start of construction. Alderman Peter de Pater (Spatial Planning) wished the future residents the very best: “On behalf of the municipality of Ede, my warmest congratulations on your new home. It’s great news for Ede that we’ve been able to add another 55 homes here in Kernhem West.”
Kernhemmerhout
The Kernhemmerhout project features a varied range of terraced houses, end-of-terrace houses and semi-detached houses. The new neighbourhood in Kernhem West offers a unique mix of peacefulness and modern comfort. Mireille Jeurnink, Director of Property Development at VanWonen: “Kernhemmerhout has a spacious layout with lots of greenery and water. Residents can enjoy the best of both worlds, combining urban living with a relaxed outdoor lifestyle. With both the train station, shops and the woods within cycling distance. Another wonderful project as part of our VanWonen mission: creating homes and living environments for the healthiest generations.”
True Kernhem character
With the construction of Kernhemmerhout, we are embarking on one of the last projects of Kernhem West after sixteen years of development at this location. We have worked closely with the developer and architect to design a plan centred on quality, comfort and beautiful architecture. “The familiar Kernhem character is clearly visible: from terraced houses and semi-detached homes with eaves and masonry accents, to contemporary terraced houses with flat roofs toward the perimeter,” says Richard te Vaarwerk, Technical Director at Van Campen Bouwgroep.
Handover and next phase
The handover of homes in Kernhemmerhout is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. Before the summer, sales will begin for the next project in Kernhem: Kernhemmerzoom. For more information and registration: www.kernhemmerzoom.nl.
