Construction of 38 social rental apartments in Meerstad has started

Construction began today on 38 social rental apartments in De Zeilen in Meerstad, in a unique location on the Woldmeer lake. Alderman Rik van Niejenhuis and Sander van der Tol (director of Nijestee) gave the symbolic go-ahead by signing a banner with the parties involved, which was then attached to the construction fence. The apartments are intended for small households and are being developed by VanWonen and rented out by Nijestee. De Unie Architecten designed the residential building, and Hesco Bouw will handle the construction.
The new apartments will be located in the green and water-rich Meerstad, an area currently undergoing significant development. Situated right on the Woldmeer lake, the complex offers a standout feature: beautiful views over the lake for every resident. This project also marks an important step in increasing the availability of affordable homes in Meerstad.

This project further expands the availability of social housing in Meerstad. There are already social homes in Meeroevers and Tersluis, and 34 new social homes are currently being built in Groenewei. These apartments in De Zeilen will add to the supply. This creates extra opportunities for households seeking affordable living in Meerstad, in a place where nature, water and tranquillity are right on your doorstep.
