The construction of new-build project In de Boog has officially started in Leek. Alderman Mrs. Geertje Dijkstra-Jacobi, Henk Troost, contractor Dons and Troost, and Mireille Jeurnink, VanWonen’s Director of Property Development, gave the go-ahead by hoisting the flags. Because of Covid-19, the go-ahead for the 10 terraced houses and the 6 semi-detached houses was given without the presence of the future residents. They will get to see the start of the construction at another time, via an online video. They will also receive a gift with bubbles, to enable them to toast to the success of the project.

After hoisting the flag, alderman Dijkstra-Jacobi applied the first brickwork for the exterior walls. The alderman said about the construction of the project: “The construction in the Oostindie district is progressing well. With it, we are taking great steps in the development of housing in the municipality of Westerkwartier. It offers new housing opportunities for both existing residents and people who would like to live in the municipality of Westerkwartier.”

Gerard Haasjes of contracting firm Dons en Troost b.v.: “This is the first time our firm is building in this region. It will be a beautiful neighbourhood with a nice diversity of homes. We are excited that we, in cooperation with VanWonen, can contribute to this project and that we can show our face in this region. We hope that the future residents will very much enjoy their new homes here.”

Mireille Jeurnink, Director of Property Development at VanWonen: “In this project we are partnering with a company we have worked with before, namely contractor Dons and Troost. They are always a good partner to work with. They have modern and flexible construction systems and they listen carefully to the needs of buyers. As a result, a lot is possible for our customers. Apart from this, we already have a lot of experience in this district and we know what our customers are looking for in this area. This enables us to think ahead and make choices that we know will meet our customers’ needs. For example, we have already expanded the ground floor of the semi-detached house and equipped it with French doors.”

Sustainable housing in the spirit of Drenthe
In de Boog is a small-scale new-build project in Leek. The ten terraced houses and six semi-detached houses are located in the district Oostindie, De Hoven, expansion district of Leek on the street Sleutelbloem. The spacious homes are all built sustainably, with an EPC value of 0. The houses don't use any gas at all and are equipped with an air source heat pump, solar panels, floor heating on the ground floor, as well as vinyl window frames throughout. The neighbourhood is surrounded by water and an abundance of nature.

De Hoven/Oostindie is being developed with the spirit of Drenthe in mind: this is reflected in the many architectural features and in the design of the public natural areas. The neighbourhood breathes the atmosphere and characteristics of Drenthe. Wooded banks and cosy village squares are created and forests are planted. Each detail has been thought through. This is how VanWonen and Dons en Troost are turning the 16 houses of In de Boog in Oostindie into real homes.
