Topping out ceremony NELSON residential tower in Arnhem

On Thursday afternoon, area developer VanWonen and contractor Van Grunsven, together with residents, celebrated the construction milestone of reaching the highest point of residential tower NELSON in Arnhem. The iconic residential tower was designed by Powerhouse Company and features 93 rental apartments spread over 15 floors. The tower is situated in a prominent location along the river Rhine, next to the Nelson Mandela Bridge in Malburgen-West.

Residential tower NELSON is nestled in greenery, with a distinctive appearance on all sides. The building comprises 33 owner-occupied and 60 rental apartments, ranging in size from 50 to 120 m². A car park with 101 parking spaces has been built under the complex.

Diamond-shaped building
The architecture is a striking eye-catcher. The diamond-shaped building has a slender silhouette and a playful façade. It connects with its surroundings in a natural way. The entrance with its bicycle parking facility is easily accessible. And from the complex it is just a five-minute bicycle ride to the city centre of Arnhem.

A focus on climate and biodiversity
The building is equipped with plenty of smart solutions, making it a healthy, energy-efficient, and pleasant place to live. Each apartment is gas-free, the area is lush and green, and there is plenty of space for bicycles. Cars remain out of sight on the parking deck and in the underground car park. Biodiversity is incorporated into the design: nesting boxes will be installed in the façades, for swifts, house sparrows, and bats.
