Buitenplaats Hofstede
Rijswijk

Back to projects

Buitenplaats Hofstede is an exclusive estate and the new jewel in the crown of the Rijswijk Estate Zone. Situated in park-like surroundings, on the banks of an impressive collection of ponds, the development includes luxury apartments in a country house, semi-detached villas, woodland homes, detached villas, and a farmstead complex. The location in this beautiful area, which in the coming years will see significant investments in nature, accessibility and liveability, is unique. On the outskirts of the city, close to all amenities, yet in a green oasis of tranquillity.

A new park for the city
Although the park is currently privately owned, the landowners and developer will donate it to the city upon completion. This plan will give Buitenplaats Hofstede the quality upgrade it deserves. A country estate that local residents will enjoy visiting again. To get feedback from local residents and stakeholders, a participation process and an online survey about the public park were held last year. Many ideas were received about improving the existing flora and fauna and the park’s design, with local environmental groups also contributing. The plan has been further developed based on the input.

Developing in a nature-inclusive way
De Buitenplaats is being designed for maximum sustainability. A layout plan has been drawn up that enhances the ecological value for various animal species. Special attention is being paid to native plants and landscape design to create a climate-adaptive and nature-inclusive environment. To enhance this, the buildings will also have a nature-inclusive design. The result will be a single ecosystem encompassing the buildings and the landscape. The materials of the houses will look natural and ensure that the buildings harmoniously blend into the landscape. It goes without saying that the homes will be gas-free and have near net-zero energy standards (BENG).

This unique project is expected to be completed in the first half of 2025.
