Diversity is an integral part of the plan. The three neighbourhoods each have their own identity: Oosterhout represents living surrounded by nature, the Centre Area is urban, Lent is urban living with a village-like atmosphere. The area covers almost 7 hectares and will include 524 homes, of which 258 owner-occupied and 266 rental homes. Of the latter, 100 homes will be for social housing, 30 will be mid-priced and there will be 25 assisted living homes. Meeting each other is at the heart of the design. On the square, with its little restaurants and cafes that are so characteristic of Nijmegen, or in one of the parks.

Hart van Waalsprong is an energy-neutral district with solar panels, wadis (gullies that can hold rain water), public gardens, green roofs, water fountains and the first energy-neutral shopping centre of the Netherlands. Both buyers and tenants will receive a mobility pass from us for the use of the electric cars and bicycles that will be available throughout the neighbourhood. The new city bridge ‘de Oversteek’ and its bicycle path ‘Snelbinder’ connect the district with the city.
