De Waalhoven, Nijmegen
Area and property development
A compact, urban, and (nature-)inclusive residential district in the beautiful river landscape along the river Waal. That is De Waalhoven. A total of approx. 565 homes will be created in the area of over 10 hectares by development partnership De Waalhoven V.O.F., made up of VanWonen and Bouwfonds Property Development (BPD). The new bridge "De Oversteek" will connect the old Nijmegen and the new Waalsprong. The dyke and river landscape serves as inspiration for the four courtyards. Nature and biodiversity are logical elements of the living environment. This results in a sustainable collective landscape.
Sustainable collective landscape
De Waalhoven pays extensive attention to sustainability, landscape, and nature. The compact approach to construction places the smallest possible burden on the landscape. We also enhance biodiversity and ecology through a nature-inclusive construction method. This method is also climate-adaptive. Taking into account the sun, wind, and noise and using circular construction methods, we create a living environment that is ready for the future. We contribute to the well-being of people and animals without unnecessarily exhausting natural resources.
Sustainable collective landscape
De Waalhoven offers room for meeting others, exercising, and healthy living. The architecture has roots in the green landscape and the compact construction creates a pleasant meeting space. This residential area with a mix of residences is a district where everyone can feel at home. A vital district, where the residents share the responsibility for maintenance and care for each other.
Sustainable collective landscape
The plan revolves around the principle of allowing people to enjoy nature to the greatest extent possible. You are invited to experience the area and get in touch with nature. You can experience the connection with all courtyards here – as living and nature meet.
